Frequently Asked Questions

Q - What is the Gulf Coast Dental Network?
A - The Gulf Coast Dental Network acts as the facilitating entity for self-insured employer groups and participating dental providers. The Gulf Coast Dental Network is not a dental plan or dental insurance. Employers have total responsibility for processing and payment of claims under their dental plans and all expenses incidental to the dental plans which are administered by a Third Party Administrator (TPA) of their choosing.
Q - How do I know if I can use a Gulf Coast Dental Network dental provider?
A - Anyone can use the dental professionals in our network. However, to obtain the benefits of the Gulf Coast Dental Network verify the following: Your local employer is self-insured, offers a PPO dental plan and you have the Gulf Coast Dental Network logo (formerly known as The Healthcare Sarasota Dental Network) on your insurance card. You should be eligible to access the benefits through the providers of the Gulf Coast Dental Network if your coverage is active. You may also contact the Third Party Administrator on your insurance card to verify this information.
Q - Do I have to use a Gulf Coast Dental Network provider?
A - No you do not have to use a Gulf Coast Dental Network provider.  This is an option of your self-insured PPO dental plan.  The advantages of using a Gulf Coast Dental Network provider are many.  These professionals have been screened for credentials and insurance coverage.  They have agreed to bill your third party administrator for payment.  They have agreed to accept the Gulf Coast Dental Network fee schedule, which saves you money! Our in-network providers will not balance bill you for any charges over Reasonable and Customary. You will not have to pay in advance.  The only charges a Gulf Coast Dental Network provider can charge you at the time of service are for any deductibles or coinsurance based on our current fee schedule, any non-covered items and any charges above your annual maximum allowed benefit.
Q - Where does my Gulf Coast Dental Network provider file my dental claims - or if I choose not to go to an in-network dental provider, where do I submit a claim for reimbursement?
A - Because the Gulf Coast Dental Network represents various employer groups that have their own third party administrator’s to process their claims there is not one address.  For the most up to date address to file claims, look at your insurance card.  If you still have questions please feel free to contact the Gulf Coast Dental Network at 941-917-1290 or contact your Human Resources office.
Q - How do I find out about my dental benefits and how much coverage I have left for the benefit period?
A - Each employer's self insured dental plan is different. To obtain dental benefits and remaining money left for the benefit period, contact the Third Party Administrator on your insurance card. They will also be able to assist you with claim status for any previous claims submitted for payment.
